Frozen section diagnosis: More than 30% of liver cells with steatosis.

Pathology and comment: Beside clinical data the histology of the donor liver may give additional informations about liver functions.
Over 30% steatosis we do not recommend the transplantation. However,
it should be considered that the assessment of steatosis is difficult on
frozen section. Ballooning of hepatocytes is very difficult to distinguish.
We think more experince is needed for the usefulness of frozen sections for
liver transplantation.
