Case #18
 
Clinical data: 40 year old woman with goiter. Intraoperativelly thyroid gland was firm and carcinoma was suspected. Frozen section diagnosis: Thyreoiditis de Quervain.
Pathology and comment: Macroscopically the thyroid gland shows a firm,
gray and nodular area. Histologically typical giant cell granulomas, fibrosis
and destruction of the follicle are seen.
