Clinical data: 43 year old female, 0.6 cm dark, blue-black elevated lesion on the left arm. Malignant melanoma?
Frozen section diagnosis: common blue nevus.
Pathology and comment: benign melanocytic tumor composed of
spindle cells in the dermis with abundant melanin pigment.
DD: Melanomas mostly contain a less amount of pigment. The epidermis
is normal, no atypical cells. No lymphotic reaction around the blue
nevus. (s. Case?)
