Comment: Cutaneous leishmaniasis is an endemic disease around the Mediterranean Sea mainly in children and young adults. It will be distributed by sandflies (Phlebotomus). Reservoirs are small rodents and dogs. The local histological reaction shows a granulomatous reaction rich in histiocytes which contain the organisms. They are mostly distributed at the periphery of the cytoplasma ( diffuse in immunocompromised patient). The organisms contain a kinetoplast. Giemsa stain may be helpful for the diagnosis.
