Comment:
leiomyosarcoma of kidney vein is well documented but very rare. More frequently leiomyosarcomas of the vena cava are described. Immunohistochemistry (desmin, actin) may be helpful for the diagnosis. Two year survival is described in the rare literature. In this case actin was positive. High proliferation activity (30% Ki67 positive tumor cells) and atypical mitoses.
